Cowboy Tennis Closes Out Regular Season With Bedlam

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team will wrap up its regular season when it plays host to No. 11 Oklahoma on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the DeBois Tennis Complex.
The Bedlam matchup will also be the final home and regular season dual for legendary coach James Wadley, who is retiring at the end of the season after 40 years at the helm of the program.
“Anytime you play a Big 12 dual it's important, and of course this is my last dual here at Oklahoma State, which is kind of interesting because I've never done this before,” Wadley said.
The Cowboys feature No. 107 Vlad Bondarenko in singles competition, who sports a record of 7-7 and has three wins over ranked opponents this season. Freshman Chris Haworth leads the team with 13 singles victories, while senior Eric West has 12.
The Cowboys are 7-12 on the year and 0-4 in Big 12 competition. They are coming off of a 4-3 loss to No. 28 Baylor, which could have gone either way.
“We played a really good match against Baylor, probably our best of the year, losing 4-3, but we had two three-set matches that if we can turn those around, we can win the match,” Wadley said. “OU's having a terrific season. They're undefeated in the Big 12 and we're looking forward to the challenge. We have to play our absolute best match in order to win, and that's what we're trying to do.”
The Sooners have a slew of players in the national rankings, with four players ranked in singles competition: No. 13 Costin Paval, No. 59 Guillermo Alcorta, No. 96 Dane Webb and No. 125 Peerakit Siributwong. The Sooners have two ranked doubles pairings as well in No. 8 Paval and Webb and No. 58 Tsvetan Mihov and Siributwong.
The Sooners (15-3, 4-0) are fresh off of a pair of weekend home victories, 4-3 against No. 28 Baylor and 5-2 against No. 20 Texas Tech.
