Cowboys At the Conference Meet
When Oklahoma State takes the mat for the Big 12 Championships, it will be hunting its 11th Big 12 tournament title in 16 attempts since the league held its first championship in 1997. The Cowboys have won 45 team conference titles all-time (including the 2012 regular season title), claiming six Southwest Conference championships from 1917-25, four Missouri Valley Conference championships from 1925-28, 24 Big Eight Conference championships from 1958-96 and 11 Big 12 Conference championships (including the 2012 regular season title) from 1997-present. Cowboy wrestlers have combined to win 234 conference individual titles through the years - one in the Southwest Conference, 23 in the Missouri Valley Conference, 151 in the Big Eight Conference and 59 in the Big 12.
John Smith At The Conference Meet
John Smith has led the Cowboys to 13 conference championships (including the 2012 regular season title) and has coached 70 individual conference champs since taking over the program in 1991-92. Under Smith, Oklahoma State has finished either first or second at the conference meet 15 times in 18 eligible years (Smith inherited an OSU program that was on probation at the time of his hiring and was not eligible to compete for the conference crown his first two seasons.) He is a nine-time selection as Big 12 coach of the year to go with his two Big Eight coach of the year accolades.
Yet Another Milestone
The Cowboy wrestling team trailed only Iowa State in all-time dual wins entering the 2011-12 season. After the Cowboys defeated the Cyclones on Jan. 22, they took sole possession of first place on that list. Here's a look at the all-time standings through this season:

Big 12 Champs
With Oklahoma State's win over Oklahoma in Norman, the Cowboys clinched the inaugural Big 12 wrestling regular season championship. With their win over Missouri, they finished 6-0 against conference opponents to mark the eighth time the Cowboys have gone undefeated in Big 12 duals. For the first time, the league's four wrestling squads played a six-match, double round-robin conference schedule to determine a regular season champion.
Dominating the Field
Among the probable starters listed for this year's field at the conference championships, five Cowboys have never lost. Jordan Oliver is 11-0, Jamal Parks is 9-0, Chris Perry is 3-0, Cayle Byers is 2-0 and Austin Marsden is 1-0 against possible opponents.
Unblemished
Of Oklahoma State's athletes who have started a dual, three are still unbeaten. No. 2 Jamal Parks is 28-0 and No. 3 Chris Perry is 24-0. Alan Gelogaev, although he lost to Chad Hanke at the Reno Tournament of Champions, will finish the season with a 24-0 record because Hanke is taking an Olympic redshirt year and the bout does not count toward his record. Gelogaev is out the rest of the year with an injury.
'Z' Makes SI's “Faces in the Crowd”
Heavyweight wrestler Alan Gelogaev was one of six athletes featured in the Feb. 13 edition of Sports Illustrated's “Faces in the Crowd” after picking up a pair of top-10 wins over Levi Cooper (Arizona State) and Matt Gibson (Iowa State). SI has been running the feature highlighting standout amateur athletes since 1956.
Oliver Picks Up 4th/5th Big 12 Honor
Oliver was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Feb. 13 and Feb. 20 for his performance in the NWCA National Duals. He helped lead the Cowboys to the NWCA Mat Mayhem Stillwater region title as he downed two ranked opponents including a 7-3 decision over No. 2 Logan Stieber of Ohio State. He also won two major decisions over ranked opponents in the final round a week later. Last season, Oliver became the first Big 12 wrestler to be honored three times in one season, making this the fourth and fifth conference honors of his career.
'Z' Best in the Big 12
Oklahoma State heavyweight starter Alan Gelogaev was selected as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 23 for his pair of top 10 wins, including a 6-1 win over No. 9 Levi Cooper of Arizona State and a 13-1 major decision over No. 10 Matt Gibson of Iowa State. It was his first time to receive the award and the first honor for OSU this year.
Record Keepers
When Oklahoma State edged Iowa, 17-16, on Jan. 7, its win was much more than just upsetting the No. 1 team on their home mat in front of a sold out crowd. The Cowboys ended the Hawkeyes' unbeaten dual streak at 84, keeping their own record-streak of 84, set from 1959-66, tied for the best ever. OSU also bookended the Hawkeyes' streak, defeating them on Jan. 5, 2008, in their last loss before it began.
Welcome to the 100 Club
With his 5-0 championship performance at the Reno Tournament of Champions, OSU senior Jamal Parks became the 34th wrestler in school history to reach 100 career wins. The 149-pounder now holds a 117-22 record and is tied with head assistant coach Eric Guererro for 17th all-time at OSU in career wins.
Byers, Too
Cayle Byers has also reached the 100-win mark in his career. Although his record at Oklahoma State is 21-3, his career mark sits at 105-21 when his 84-18 record at George Mason is included in the record.
Jordan Fall-Iver
What OSU 133-pounder Jordan Oliver has done so far this year is nothing short of remarkable. The junior's 22-1 record includes 14 falls (nine in the first period), three technical falls and four major decisions. His pins:

His older sister Jesyca was an all-Big 12 soccer player for Oklahoma State as well. Dallas Bailey's father, Leo, was a two-time All-American wrestler for the Cowboys in 1983 and 1986.
