OSU Head Coach Jim Littell
Opening statement
“I'm really proud of our team. We've had some tough situations this year. We've been in a tough stretch, and our players have kept coming to practice every day with the commitment to get better. I thought we played really, really well tonight. Without a doubt, I think it was our best offensive game of the year. [Tiffany Bias] had a complete game as a point guard with 37 minutes. She scored 17 and had six rebounds, but I thought she did an exceptional job of controlling the game. We didn't have an advantage, we came back and we ran good sets. We executed really, really well. Our freshman (Liz Donohoe) had a special night tonight. She did a good job of running off screens, using the screens, catching and shooting. I thought both of these young ladies did a great job. Toni Young gave us a great effort on the glass. She only scored four, but she had 12 rebounds with the game on the line. Carissa Crutchfield came off the bench and really did a great job. We have a lot of pride in this group, and it has been a maturing process for us all year long. There have been nights that we have been blown out, and there are nights that we played well on the defensive end. I thought we played really good defense in the second half. We made some adjustments, and our players locked in and didn't miss assignments. We missed five or six assignments in the first half that allowed them to score 40 points. To hold them to 23 in the second half, I thought it was a special performance by our defense in the second half. “
Tiffany Bias
On turning point
“I think just picking up on defense. Carissa came in and gave us a spurt where she shut down Mansfield and she shut down Moody at the same time. We were both playing really good D. Lindsey shut down Poppens. She was giving it to her. I think it was our defense that turned the game around for us.”
Liz Donohoe
“I have been struggling the past few games. My team got me the ball, they screened and they got me open. I actually had a good shooting night. If I have the shot, I'm going to take it.”
ISU Head Coach Bill Fennelly
On the game
“Oklahoma State played great. We had no answer for their guards. Liz played great. Tiffany played great. You can't turn the ball over 11 times on the road and expect to win. We knew this would be a very hard game. They have been very good at home. The biggest thing is we didn't defend the way we've been defending all year long, and you put people on the free throw line like we did. That was the biggest thing. Try not to keep them on the free throw line; don't bail them out. We did that and then we allowed their two guards to dictate the pace.
On Liz Donohoe
“She has had a great year. She is a very talented kid. She has a real even game, doesn't hunt shots and knows how to play. They do a great job of putting her in positions to be successful. I'm very impressed. She has some off nights as all freshmen do, but that doesn't seem to bother her. She's going to be a great player and someone that the Cowgirl fans are going to enjoy watching over the next four years.”
On the game
“The margin of error in this league is pretty tight, especially when you're on the road, and to OSU's credit I thought they made some great plays. I thought they played really well. I was very impressed with them.”
