AUBURN, Ala. -- The 15th-ranked Oklahoma State softball team lost 3-1 to the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide on the final day of the SEC/ACC/Big 12 Challenge. OSU finished the weekend 0-3 and are now 4-4 on the season.

Alabama (7-0) scored in the first inning off a solo shot to left field by Cassie Reilly-Boccia to take an early 1-0 lead.

Cowgirl senior Kelsey Anchors tied the game up in the fourth inning with a solo home run over the right field fence, breaking up the perfect game Jackie Traina had been throwing. It was also the only hit of the game for Oklahoma State.

The next inning the Tide responded with another solo home run by Kendall Dawson to take the lead 2-1. Cowgirl sophomore Simone Freeman started in the circle and after allowing two more hits after the home run, was pulled for junior Kat Espinosa. After a bunt single loaded the bases, Espinosa struck out one batter, threw a ground out to the next and struck out the last to get out of the inning.

With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, the Cowgirls were able to load the bases from an Alabama error and two walks, but weren't able to score a run.

Freeman picks up the loss and is now 2-2 on the season. She threw four innings, allowed nine hits for three runs, struck out six and walked none. Espinosa finished the game with three innings pitched, allowed three hits for no runs, and struck out four.

Jackie Traina picked up the win for Alabama and improves to 5-0. She threw the complete game one-hitter, struck out seven and walked two.

Oklahoma State will play again next weekend when they travel to Palm Springs to play five games in the Cathedral City Classic.
