Stillwater, Okla. — In less than 90 minutes, nearly 4,000 tickets for the Gonzaga game were distributed to Cowboy Basketball fans on Wednesday, thanks to the generous purchase by Boone Pickens.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Pickens had purchased all the remaining tickets for the New Year's Eve contest with the Bulldogs, currently ranked No. 14 in the Associated Press poll. When the doors of Gallagher-Iba Arena were opened at 8 a.m. Wednesday, the east lobby was flooded with fans.
The Gonzaga game will be one of the most highly anticipated non-conference games in Gallagher-Iba Arena history. Only five times in the last four decades has a ranked non-conference opponent stepped onto the court inside GIA. The last time Oklahoma State played a ranked non-conference opponent was on Dec. 5, 1990, when the Cowboys defeated 16th-ranked Memphis, 93-66.
