Stillwater, Okla. -- Following an 81-58 victory over Portland State on Sunday, Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team has moved up to No. 15 in this week's edition of the Associated Press poll, a five-spot jump up from last week's No. 20. OSU also moved up five spots in the USA Today Coaches poll, up from 22nd to 17th.
OSU is the second-highest ranked team in the Big 12 Conference, five spots behind the 10th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. N.C. State, which the Cowboys defeated in the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, ranks 18th, and OSU's New Year's Eve opponent, Gonzaga, is currently ranked No. 12.
The No. 15 ranking is the highest for Oklahoma State since Jan. 29, 2007, when the Cowboys were ranked 12th. The five-spot leap also ties for the eighth-largest jump for OSU in the polls in a one-week span.
Oklahoma State (5-0) will return to action this Saturday, Dec. 1, as the Cowboys travel to Blacksburg, Va., to take on the 5-0 Virginia Tech Hokies. Tipoff from Cassell Coliseum is set for 1 pm CT, and the game will be broadcast over the Internet by ESPN3.
