Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State freshman Le'Bryan Nash has been named the Big 12 Conference's Rookie of the Week, it was announced today, for the period ending Jan. 29. Nash averaged 20 points and 5.5 rebounds in two starts last week.
The Dallas, Texas, native scored a career-high 27 points in OSU's upset victory over No. 2 Missouri last Wednesday. He was 12-of-18 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from long range, while dishing out four assists against the Tigers. It was his sixth 20-point game this season. He added 13 points in the Cowboys' loss at Texas A&M on Saturday, his 14th double-digit scoring effort this year. For the week, he shot 51.5 percent from the floor, with six assists a block and one steal.
Nash is the second Cowboy to receive the honor this season as freshman Cezar Guerrero was named the Big 12's Rookie of the Week on Nov. 21.
Nash and the Cowboys travel to Lubbock, Texas, for a Tuesday night game with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on the Big 12 Network (KOCB channel 34 in Oklahoma City, KTUL channel 8 in Tulsa). Oklahoma State is 10-11 overall this season and 3-5 in Big 12 Conference action, while Tech is 7-13 overall, 0-8 in league play. The Cowboys defeated the Red Raiders 67-59 earlier this season in Stillwater in the conference opener.
