Track Has 19 On All-Big 12 Academic Team

IRVING, Texas – The Oklahoma State track and field program was honored for its success in the classroom Tuesday as 19 student-athletes were named to the All-Big 12 Academic Team, the conference announced.
A total of seven Cowboys were named to squad, while 12 women earned the honor.
The men's squad consisted of Raul Botezan, Tom Farrell, German Fernandez, Colby Lowe, Joseph Manilafasha, Taylor Monaghan, and Mark Nelson, who all received first team recognition.
The women's team included first-team members Brandi Andrews, Brooke Gritters, Victoria Hanna, Laura Heaton, Tone Hjalmarsen, Felicity Milton, Teran Mixon, Autumn Moses, Jessica Murphy and Caitlin Way, as well as second-team members Jacqueline Campos and Melanie Funke.
Way was even further recognized for her academic prowess, as she was one of just 25 athletes nominated with a 4.00 grade point average.
Oklahoma State also several athletes who have made multiple All-Big 12 Academic teams. Andrews and Mixon receive their third-straight nominations, while Hjalmarsen, Moses, Lowe and Nelson receive their second.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
