Cowgirls Remain In Ninth At Big 12 Championship

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team carded a 294 score during its second round at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday to remain in ninth place through two rounds at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Cowgirls entered the day in a tie for ninth and held their ground after posting a 6-over score at the par-72, 6,234-yard layout. OSU has a 20-over total of 596 and is one shot behind Nebraska and Baylor for seventh place. The Cowgirls will begin tomorrow's final round just six shots out of fifth place. Texas carded a 1-under 287 to finish the day atop the team standings at 583. The Longhorns hold a two-shot advantage over Iowa State through 36 holes.
Texas' Madison Pressel fired a 6-under 66 to finish the day at 137 and six shots clear of the field in the individual standings.
OSU's Josephine Janson followed an opening 73 with a 71 to get in with an even-par 144 total. The freshman's 1-under day moved her into sole possession of eighth place. Janson started her round on the back nine and promptly birdied the 10th. After a bogey at the 12th, she moved back under par with a birdie at the par-5 15th. Janson followed with nine-straight pars and bounced back form a bogey at the seventh with a birdie at the eighth to record her low score as a Cowgirl.
Freshman Jade Staggs also carded her best career round, posting a 73 to stand at 148 and in a tie for 19th place.
Sophomore Hillary Wood posted a 76 for the second day in a row to come in tied for 36th place at 152.
Junior Jocelyn Alford's 74 moved her into a tie for 42nd place at 153, while freshman Jayde Panos recorded a 79 to finish at 157 and tied for 53rd place.
The Cowgirls will get their third round underway tomorrow at 8 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Nebraska and Baylor.
