Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State sophomore Roger Franklin has requested and been granted a release, head coach Travis Ford announced today. Franklin will have two years of eligibility remaining and has not yet used his redshirt season.
“We wish Roger nothing but the best of luck,” Ford said. “I appreciate all the hard work he has put in with our program. But more importantly, I appreciate the person Roger was while at Oklahoma State.
“We understand him wanting more playing time and a much larger role, and going to a program where he's able to do that. We also understand him wanting to get closer to home. He will always be a part of the Cowboy Basketball family.”
Franklin averaged 1.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 25 games this past season for the Cowboys. The Duncanville, Texas, native scored a career-high 13 points in a win over Iowa State in Stillwater this season, and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds at Texas on Feb. 16.
