Cowgirls Take On Tech At Big 12 Tourney
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (16-13 overall, 4-12 Big 12) will begin postseason play on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. when it takes on Texas Tech (21-9, 8-8) in the first round of the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City. The Cowgirls will be the event's No. 11 seed, while the Lady Raiders will serve as the No. 6 seed. The Cowgirls snapped a five-game losing streak in their last outing with a 68-67 win over Texas in Stillwater on Saturday.
OSU—Texas Tech ... The Series
After splitting the season series this year, Tech now leads the overall series by a 28-18 count. However, the Cowgirls have won six of the last nine. OSU and Tech have met four times in Big 12 Championship play with Tech leading 3-1. OSU won the last tourney meeting in Oklahoma City in 2009.
Scouting Texas Tech
Tech enters play having won two of its last three, including a 57-48 win over OSU in Lubbock on Feb. 26. The Lady Raiders are 2-0 this season in neutral site contests. Tech ranks second in the Big 12 in steals at 10.5 per game. Kierra Mallard is the squad's leading scorer at 12.2 points per game, which ranks 20th in the Big 12. Mallard also ranks sixth in the league with her 1.8 blocks per game. Teena Wickett is shooting 51.5 percent from the floor to rank fifth in the Big 12. Monique Smalls is third in steals (2.6 spg) and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Cowgirls are 5-5 all time under head coach Kurt Budke at the Big 12 Championship. OSU reached the event's championship game for the first time in 2008. Last year, OSU won a pair of games to reach the semifinal round. The Cowgirls have been the tourney's No. 11 seed on three previous occasions, going 1-1 in 1999 and 2003. OSU's last appearance in the 11th spot resulted in a first-round loss in 2005.
