Chicago, Ill. — Oklahoma State Cowboy Basketball signee LeBryan Nash won the slam-dunk competition at the 2011 McDonald's All-American Powerade Jam Fest Monday night on the campus of Chicago State University. Nash's final-round combined score of 124 beat out Duke signee Marshall Plumlee's 122 by two points.
Nash became the second OSU signee to win the competition as Gerald Green was honored as the 2005 slam-dunk champion. Green never stepped foot on the Stillwater campus, opting instead for the NBA. Nash, ranked as the No. 6 player nationally by ESPNU.com and the No. 4 player in the Rivals.com top 150, will be the highest-rated player to ever don a Cowboy uniform.
On his final dunk, Nash sported the same orange foam Cowboy hat he wore when he announced his intention to sign with Oklahoma State on ESPNU last November. He made it to the finals of the dunk competition in fourth place after the first round, but defeated Plumlee, fellow Duke signee Austin Rivers and North Carolina signee P.J. Hairston in the finals.
On Sunday, Parade Magazine announced it's 55th-annual All-America basketball team. Nash was named to the second team, the highest of any Big 12 signee.
Nash will also participate in the 2011 McDonald's All-American game on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 9 pm and the game will be televised by ESPN.
