Caroline Hedwall Named Player of the Year

STILLWATER, Okla. - Former Oklahoma State golf standout Caroline Hedwall was named the Ladies European Tour Player of the Year for 2011 it was announced today.
Since the award's inception in 1995, Hedwall became the first player in LET history to win player of the year honors as well as the Rolex Rookie of the Year in the same season. The player of the year is selected in a vote of the Ladies European Tour membership.
The Barsebäck, Sweden native played in 20 events this season and earned 278,528.87 euros, which was 207,361 euros more than the next rookie on the list and more than double the earnings of any previous rookie in the 32-year history of the tour. Overall, she finished third on the tour's money list behind Ai Myazato and Melissa Reid.
After winning the LET's Final Qualifying School by nine shots, Hedwall made her professional debut on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour and promptly logged a victory at the New South Wales Open.
Hedwall tallied four LET victories on the year winning the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open, Finnair Masters, the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open and the Hero Women's Indian Open. She also had four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up showing at the Deloitte Ladies Open in Holland.
A captain's pick for the European Solheim Cup squad, Hedwall tallied 2.5 points for the victorious European side.
Next season, Hedwall will compete as a member of both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours.
