Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the first round of the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 pm inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU is hosting the first- and second-round games of the Midwest Regional, with Oral Roberts facing UTSA in the second game of the doubleheader at approximately 9:30 pm.
The Cowboys are coming off a 71-39 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Friday night and look to move to 2-0 with a win over the UAPB Lions. OSU is 1-0 all-time against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and has never lost to a Southwestern Athletic Conference school in 19 previous games.
One of the more intriguing match-ups of the NIT Season Tip-Off will be Tuesday night's second contest. UTSA, coached by former Cowboy Brooks Thompson, will play ORU's Golden Eagles, coached by former Cowboy Scott Sutton with his brother, former OSU head coach Sean Sutton, as an assistant. The two squads will face off on Eddie Sutton Court, named after the legendary coach whom both played for.
This will mark OSU's third appearance in the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Cowboys won the championship game of the 1991 event with a 78-71 victory over Georgia Tech. Oklahoma State advanced to the second round of the 1996 tournament before falling at Tulsa.
Oklahoma State will also play at 7 pm in Wednesday's second-round game, either against UTSA or ORU. Arkansas-Pine Bluff will play at 9:30 pm against the other squad. The winner of two games in Gallagher-Iba Arena will advance to the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals, played next Wednesday, Nov. 23, inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. The three remaining teams will compete in the consolation bracket next Monday and Tuesday at campus sites.
OSU's games on both nights will be broadcast over the internet by ESPN3.com. Chad McKee will handle the play-by-play duties while former Cowboy Bryndon Manzer will provide expert analysis.
The NIT Season Tip-Off Midwest Regional games are part of the Cowboy Basketball season ticket package. Tickets are also available by contacting the OSU Athletic Ticket Office at (877) 255-4678 or online at www.okstate.com/tickets.
