STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team inked one of the nation's highest ranked players to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Brittney Martin, a 6-0 wing player, cast her lot with the Cowgirls and will join the program for the 2012-13 campaign.
"Brittney is the highest ranked player we have ever signed," Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke said. "She can play the 2, 3 or 4, handles it very well and has a legitimate jumper."
"She will remind people of Danielle Green and Danielle had a tremendous career at Oklahoma State."
A native of Syracuse, Utah, Martin is ranked as the 18th-best player overall and the No. 3 wing in the country in the 2012 ESPNU HoopGurlz Top 100 rankings.
As a junior at Syracuse High School, Martin averaged 21.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while helping the Titans to a 23-1 mark and a berth in the 5A state championship game. Following the season, she was named the state's Ms. Basketball by the Deseret News.
During her sophomore season she averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game en route to earning all-state honors. Martin directed SHS to a 25-0 mark and its first state title as well. The undefeated season was part of a 48-game winning streak by the Titans.
Martin averaged 12.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game as a freshman and enters her final season with 1,254 career points.
