Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team opens the 2011-12 season Friday night as OSU hosts the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. Tipoff is set for 7 pm inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowboys went 2-0 in exhibition play with freshman Le'Bryan Nash leading the Pokes, averaging 18 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Senior Keiton Page averaged 17 points and three assists per contest. Page has started 65-straight games for Oklahoma State, ranking 15th in the school record books.
Oklahoma State is 8-0 all-time against the Islanders, including a 68-58 victory last season. TAMUCC returns just two members who played in the game last season against the Cowboys. The Islanders lost their only exhibition game, falling to Incarnate Word 69-65 in overtime.
OSU has won 32-consecutive non-conference home games, dating back to the season opener in 2007. The Cowboys have also won 16-straight season openers, dating back to the 1994-95 Final Four year. In fact, Oklahoma State has won 36-consecutive home openers, dating back to 1974.
