Narattana And Rose Advance To Semifinals

WACO, Texas – The Oklahoma State women's tennis doubles tandem of Kanyapat Narattana and Malika Rose advanced to the semifinal round of the HEB Baylor Women's Invitational on Saturday.
The pairing defeated the No. 2 seed of Sun Wen and Cristina Sanchez-Quintaner from Texas A&M, 8-4. Narattana and Rose will take on the No. 3 seed of Nicole Kosakowski and Jordaan Sanford of Baylor on Sunday at 8 a.m.
The Cowgirl duo of C.C. Sardinha and Leyla Simmons advanced to the semifinal round of the doubles consolation bracket after defeating the top-seeded pair of Edyta Cieplucha and Heather Steinbauer of SMU, 8-3 in the second round of the consolation bracket.
They also beat Silvia Nieva and Makenzie Mitchell of Tarleton, 8-1, in the quarterfinal round. The two will return to action on Sunday when they take on Brittni Fausett and Alicia Perez of Tarleton at 8 a.m.
Five Cowgirls competed in the round of 16 in the singles bracket. Sanchez-Quintaner got the best of Rose, 6-3, 6-3, while Stefanie Tan of TCU defeated C.C. Sardinha 7-5, 6-3. Maria Martinez of UTA dominated the first set, 6-0, against Narattana. Narattana returned to dominate the second set, 6-0, but dropped the final set, 6-2.
Freshman Meghan Blevins lost to Federica Denti of TCU, 7-5, 6-4, and freshman Mary Jeremiah was defeated by Diana Nakic of Baylor, 6-0, 6-4.
