Cowgirls In Ninth At Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 287 during its first round at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday to stand in a tie for ninth place at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Cowgirls, who have won their two previous starts this fall, finished the day tied with Texas at 3-over par and two shots behind San Diego State at the par-71, 6,148-yard layout. UCLA and Washington shared the first-round lead after posting 277 scores to come in four shots ahead of Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt's Marina Alex used an opening 65 to grab the top spot in the individual standings. She will begin tomorrow's second round a stroke clear of Washington's duo of SooBin Kim and Sadena Parks.
Fresh off a win in her last start at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, OSU's Kelsey Vines opened with a 1-under 71 to stand in a tie for 13th place. The Cowgirl junior made the turn at 1-under 34 after carding eight pars and a birdie on her front nine. With another birdie at the par-5 12th, Vines moved to 2-under before finishing at 1-under for the day after closing with her lone bogey of the day at the 18th.
Senior Jocelyn Alford posted an even-par 71 during her first round to come in tied for 25th place, while sophomore Jayde Panos was a stroke back with a 72 to finish tied for 34th place.
Sophomore Josephine Janson posted a 74 to stand in a tie for 57th place and classmate Amy Ruengmateekhun's 78 tied her for 80th place.
