Lubbock, Texas -- Keiton Page scored a game-high 26 points, but the Cowboys could not overcome 39 free-throw attempts by Texas Tech as Oklahoma State fell to the Red Raiders 75-74 here Saturday afternoon in overtime. It was OSU's third-consecutive loss.
Page had an opportunity to win the game at the end of regulation. First, he was fouled with 15.3 seconds remaining on a three-point attempt and made all three free throws. Then, after the Cowboys got a stop on the defensive end, Page's shot from just inside the midcourt line bounced off the back of the rim.
Tech took a 70-68 lead in overtime when senior Mike Singletary scored two of his team-high 25 points. Page responded with a conventional three-point play just 26 seconds later to take a 71-70 lead. Red Raider John Roberson scored a basket with 2:52 remaining, and Marshall Moses hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 72-all.
Roberson then hit the biggest shot of the game, a three pointer with 51 seconds remaining in the first overtime period. Page was fouled and hit both free throws to extend his consecutive free-throws made to 29. OSU intentionally fouled Roberson, who missed both free-throw attempts. With no timeouts left, the Cowboys hurried down the court, but D'walyn Roberts blocked an attempt from the free throw line at the buzzer.
Oklahoma State falls to 14-7 overall this season and 2-5 in Big 12 Conference action. The Cowboys will host Missouri on Wednesday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena at 8 pm.
