As Tough As It Gets For Parks
Oklahoma State junior 149-pounder Jamal Parks faces his second returning All-America opponent in three days when he battles 2009 NCAA champion and No. 1-ranked Darrion Caldwell of NC State Sunday. Parks comes off a 3-2 win over a returning All-American in No. 9 Justin Gaethje of Northern Colorado on Friday.
Parks is the third Cowboy to face the No. 1 wrestler in his respective weight class this year, as Jordan Oliver dumped Boise State's Andrew Hochstrasser at the NWCA All-Star Classic, 8-7, and Mike Benefiel lost an 11-2 major decision to Jon Reader of Iowa State.
Cowboys Are Fresh Off Win No. 1,000
Friday's 44-0 win over Northern Colorado marked the 1,000th all-time victory for Cowboy wrestling. Only Iowa State has reached the 1,000-win plateau as the Cyclones currently have 1,008 all-time dual match victories.
It should be noted, however, that Iowa State's 1,008 wins have come in 1,298 duals, giving the Cyclones a .784 all-time win percentage. OSU's 1,000 victories have come in 1,136 duals for an .890 win percentage.

Honors Pouring In For Oliver
Sophomore Jordan Oliver earned Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors after earning Outstanding Wrestler distinction at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Jan. 8-9.
Oliver went 5-0 at National Duals with three wins coming by fall, one by technical fall and one by major decision. Despite having three of his matches ended before the 3:20 mark, Oliver still finished with 19 takedowns and six nearfalls in his five bouts at National Duals.
Oliver's Year?
Sophomore Jordan Oliver has been nothing short of dominant this season. The No. 1-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds, Oliver is 16-0 with 14 of those wins coming with bonus points attached.
Oliver has pinned seven of his opponents and has stormed to five wins by technical fall.
Not counted in his season total is the 8-7 win he claimed over then-No. 1 Andrew Hochstrasser of Boise State at the NWCA All-Star Classic.
He leads OSU with a staggering 67 dual match takedowns and 17 dual match nearfalls.
Foster Shining As a Senior
OSU senior Clayton Foster is a very real NCAA title candidate this year. A returning All-American (sixth in 2010), Foster enters the NC State dual sporting a 14-0 record this season and a perfect 6-0 record against ranked opponents.
OSU's Hidden All-American
Oklahoma State has wrestled the entire season without the services of a returning All-American at heavyweight in Alan Gelogaev. Gelogaev was injured in the first open tournament of the year and is expected back shortly before the Big 12 Championships.
Speaking Of Hidden...
While they have operated in the shadows of their All-America teammates, the OSU duo of Jamal Parks and Dallas Bailey has combined to post a 36-5 record entering the NC State dual. Parks is 18-2 and Bailey is 18-3.
Parks is a steady wrestler who has proven to be tough to beat in close matches throughout his career. Bailey is not afraid to go for the big moves, with his bouts often providing spectacular action.
Smith Reached Career Milestone
Oklahoma State coach John Smith reached a career milestone earlier in the season. The winningest coach in Cowboy Wrestling history with a career record of 305-46-6 entering the NC State dual, Smith became the first OSU coach ever to hit the 300-win milestone when the Cowboys dropped No. 24 Arizona State in Tempe by a 40-4 score on Jan. 2.
Rosholt Earned National Honor
Freshman Blake Rosholt was honored as the national wrestler of the week by themat.com on Dec. 13.
The unranked Rosholt provided the key spark in Oklahoma State's 22-12 dual victory over No. 8 Oklahoma on Dec. 12 when he scored a 4-3 upset win over No. 8 Nathan Fernandez.
Morrison A Big 12 Honoree
Freshman Jon Morrison was honored as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 6.
Morrison, a 125-pounder from Orland Park, Ill., helped the Cowboys to a 17-16 road win over No. 3 Minnesota on Dec. 5. He knocked off two-time All-American Zach Sanders when he scored a 7-5 sudden victory win over the Gopher.
Oliver Was Big 12's Mr. November
Sophomore Jordan Oliver was recognized as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Month for November.
Oliver rattled off a perfect 5-0 record during the month, and that figure did not count his 8-7 victory over No. 1 Andrew Hochstrasser of Boise State at the NWCA All-Star Classic because bouts at the All-Star Classic do not count toward a wrestler's season record.
Asics All-Americans Live Here
Oklahoma State has six former Asics High School First-Team All-Americans competing in its wrestling room this season.
Jordan Oliver 2006
Albert White 2007
Mike Benefiel 2007
Clayton Foster 2007
Chris Perry 2009
Josh Kindig 2010
Fargo Champs, Too
A similar note can be made about the fact that Oklahoma State has seven former Fargo champions on the roster this year.
Clayton Foster 2006
Albert White 2006
Mike Benefiel 2007
Jon Morrison 2007
Jordan Oliver 2007
Jamal Parks 2007
Chris Perry 2008
Family Ties
Coach John Smith coaches three of his nephews this year. Chris Perry is the son of Smith's sister, Cathy, and Zach White and Matt White are the sons of Smith's sister, Mary Ann.
Blake Rosholt is the youngest of the Rosholt family. His older brother Jake was a three-time NCAA champion at OSU and another older brother, Jared, was a three-time All-American for the Cowboys. Older sister Jesyca was an all-Big 12 soccer player for Oklahoma State as well.
Dallas Bailey's father, Leo, was a two-time All-American wrestler for the Cowboys in 1983 and 1986.
