Cowgirls Continue Play in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team continued play at day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational Friday, adding a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory to its tournament record.
The Cowgirls began the day with three doubles matches against Yale, as senior Nataliya Shatkovskaya and freshman Kanyapat Narattana picked up their first doubles win of the year after defeating Yale's Lindsay Clark and Vicky Brook in a hard-fought tiebreaker, 9-8 (8).
Two other OSU doubles teams competed, but fell in close matches, 9-7 and 9-8.
In singles play, the Cowgirls faced off with the Georgia Bulldogs, picking a pair of wins in six matches.
Senior Sasha Belova claimed a three-set win over UGA's Alina Jerjomna, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, to push her tournament singles record to 2-0, while sophomore newcomer C.C. Sardinha earned her first singles win as a Cowgirl.
Shatkovskaya matched up against No. 31-ranked Nadja Gilchrist of Georgia. The Minsk, Belarus, native put up a great fight against the highly-ranked Bulldog, but fell in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
Narattana, senior Sarah Meghoufel and junior Alisa Buslaieva also represented the Cowgirls on the singles courts, each falling in two sets.
Oklahoma State resumes play Sunday in Atlanta for the final day of the Georgia Tech Invitational, with the first serve scheduled for 9 a.m.
