STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team unveiled its schedule for the 2010-11 season today. The Cowgirls will navigate a 29-game slate that includes 19 home games.
"Last year, we had one of the top 15 RPIs in the country and our strength of schedule ranked sixth. I don't expect those numbers to be much different this season," OSU head coach Kurt Budke said. "We have put together a quality group of non-conference opponents that will prove to be very challenging for our young squad."
OSU will tip off its sixth campaign under Budke on Nov. 9 with an exhibition contest against East Central in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls will open the regular season on Nov. 13 when Texas Southern comes to town to open a four-game homestand. OSU will venture away from Gallagher-Iba Arena just once during the non-conference slate, traveling to Albuquerque, N.M., for a pair of games in the New Mexico Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 26-27.
Budke's squad will close out its non-league schedule with a seven-game homestand that includes contests against Arkansas-Little Rock, Wisconsin, Duke and Vermont, all of which participated in the NCAA Tournament last year. Wisconsin will travel to Stillwater on Dec. 5 as part of the Big Ten-Big 12 Challenge.
Also included among that stretch of games is a Dec. 22 contest against in-state rival Oral Roberts.
OSU's 16-game Big 12 schedule will begin Jan. 8 at Kansas State before the Cowgirls return home on Jan. 12 to face Texas A&M in their conference home opener.
The Big 12 road schedule will also include games at Baylor, Texas, Iowa State, Missouri, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
The remainder of the Cowgirls' home schedule will include games against Colorado, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Kansas and Texas. The Longhorns will serve as OSU's opponent for Senior Night on March 5.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 24-11 mark last year and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years.
