Nedovyesov Advances at NCAAs

ATHENS, Ga. – Oklahoma State's Oleksandr Nedovyesov advanced to the second round of the 2010 Men's NCAA Tennis Singles Championships Wednesday, winning convincingly over South Carolina's Diego Cubas, 6-2, 6-1, in the opening round at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The Cowboy senior, ranked No. 5 in the nation and the No. 6 overall seed in the tournament, is now 6-3 in the his career at the NCAA Singles Championships, finishing 1-1 in 2006, and 2-1 in both 2007 and 2008.
The straight-set win over the 52nd-ranked South Carolina senior also moves Nedovyesov's spring singles record to 18-3.
Nedovyesov moves to the second round Thursday, where he will face the winner of this evening's match between Ohio State's Justin Kronauge and Florida State's Vahid Mirzadeh.
In addition to continuing his play in the singles bracket, Nedovyesov will also begin play in the NCAA Doubles Championships with partner Aleksey Bessonov.
