STILLWATER, Okla. - Two members of the Oklahoma State men's tennis team will wrap up the 2010 season at the NCAA Tennis Championships this week, as Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Aleksey Bessonov compete for the Cowboys in individual bracket play, beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Dan McGill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
Nedovyesov, one of the most honored players in the history of the OSU tennis program, will compete as the No. 6 overall seed in the singles bracket, while he and Bessonov will compete in the doubles bracket.
In the singles championship, Nedovyesov, who is a perfect four-four on NCAA Championship appearances in his Cowboy career, will face South Carolina's Diego Cubas in the opening round of 64.
On the doubles side, Nedovyesov and Bessonov, who finished the 2009-10 season with a record of 23-11, will face the Mississippi State tandem of George Coupland and Artem Ilyushin in the opening round of 32, scheduled to begin Thursday.
Nedovyesov, the 2009 ITA National Player of the Year, finished dual play with a 17-3 record at No. 1 singles in 2010, including a 5-1 mark in Big 12 play, which tied for the best in the conference.
The event marks the last collegiate competition of the 2009-10 season and the last NCAA tennis event for the senior Nedovyesov, who holds an all-time singles record of 103-22 in his storied career.
