Austin, Texas -- Oklahoma State's seventh-ranked softball team dropped a 9-1 decision at No. 15 Texas on Saturday, being run-ruled for the first time this season as the Longhorns extended the Cowgirls' losing streak to three games before 1,211 fans here at Red and Charline McCombs Field.

Texas freshman Blaire Luna limited OSU to just one hit while walking two and striking out eight Cowgirls. Oklahoma State scored its lone run in the top of the first inning when leadoff hitter Mariah Gearhart scored on a base hit by second baseman Alysia Hamilton. Gearhart had reached base when she was hit by a pitch, her school-record 25th of the season. After stealing second -- her 20th stolen base of the year -- she advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Katelyn Bright. Hamilton followed with a single to right field.

The Longhorns responded quickly with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, including two on a home run by Lexy Bennett, her eighth of the season. Texas added three more in the bottom of the second on three hits, extending the lead to 6-1.

Oklahoma State had the leadoff hitter on base in both the second and fourth innings, but each time the Cowgirls were unable to plate a run. OSU went down 1-2-3 in each of the third, fifth and sixth innings.

UT added two runs in the fifth inning and had the bases loaded, but Loryn Johnson lined out to right field on a nice play by Katelyn Bright to end the threat. In the sixth, Raygan Feight hit a bloop double down the rightfield line, and scored on a drive from Courtney Craig that hit off the wall along the rightfield line. With the run-rule in effect, the game was called with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

Bennett went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored for the Longhorns. Luna picked up her 24th win of the season with just five losses. Cowgirl senior Anna Whiddon, who gave up eight runs on 11 hits while walking three and hitting three more batters, fell to 20-5.
