TULSA, Okla. – Cowboy senior Oleksandr Nedovyesov, the No. 14-ranked singles player in the country, improved to 17-3 in singles play Sunday as the No. 54 Oklahoma State men's tennis team fell to No. 11 Baylor, 6-1, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The match began with doubles play, where the Bears claimed wins at the No. 2 and 3 lines to win the first team point. Nedovyesov and partner Aleksey Bessonov, however, earned a win over Baylor's 34th-ranked duo of Denes Lukacs and Roberto Maytin, 8-4.
In singles play, Nedovyesov, earned the Cowboys' lone team point with a straight-set win over No. 16 Lukacs, but OSU dropped matches at the No. 2-6 spot to give the Bears a, 6-1, win.
Although Baylor won five singles matches, several Cowboys remained competitive throughout the match, including Bessonov, who lost a three-set battle to BU's Attila Bucko, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
With the loss, the Cowboys wrap up the regular season with an 8-12 overall record and a 0-6 mark in Big 12 Conference play.
The Cowboys resume competition at the 2010 Big 12 Championship, scheduled for April 30-May 2, in Austin, Texas.
