Stillwater, Okla. -- Redshirt freshman Tamara Brown hit a three-run home run, breaking a 4-4 tie and leading 15th-ranked Oklahoma State to a 7-4 victory over No. 25 Baylor here Saturday afternoon in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams.

The Cowgirls scored first in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by sophomore Kelsey Anchors, her second of the season. A half inning later, the Bears tied the game on a double to right center off the bat of Jordan Vannatta.

After a scoreless fourth, Baylor scored the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth when Dani Leal led off the inning with a solo homer, her seventh of the season. The Bears made it 4-2 an inning later when Vannatta led off with a base hit up the middle. A base hit by Courtney Nieten advanced pinch runner Kathy Shelton to second, and Bree Hanafin then hit a long fly ball to centerfield. Anchors caught the ball against the wall, knocking her down and allowing Shelton to score on the sacrifice fly.

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Chelsea Garcia led off the inning with a single, her second hit of the game. Anchors walked, and both runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Mariah Gearhart. After a pop up by Katelyn Bright, Alysia Hamilton single to left field, tying the game at 4-4.

Baylor starter Courtney Repka intentionally walked Julie Ward, the Cowgirls home run leader with seven bombs this season. The plan backfired for head coach Glenn Moore, however, as Brown hit her fourth homer of the season over the right-centerfield fence.

Senior Anna Whiddon threw her ninth complete game of the season and improved to 15-3. Repka took the loss for Baylor and fell to 12-6.

Oklahoma State (28-7 overall, 1-0 Big 12) will host the Bears (19-9, 0-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
