Cowboys Knock Off Sacramento State, 4-3

TULSA, Okla. - The No. 30 Oklahoma State men's tennis team improved its record to 2-2 Saturday, defeating Sacramento State, 4-3.
The Cowboys started off the day with a win at No. 3 doubles, as Ilija Martinoski and Maxi Kuhn defeated Sacramento State's Marko Starcevic and Tim Lantin, 8-3. Oklahoma State surrendered the doubles point, however, after dropping the next two matches at No. 2 and No. 1.
The Hornets widened their lead to start singles play, as Jason Smith defeated Ilija Martinoski at No. 3 to make the team score 2-0.
The Cowboys also lost a point at No. 2 singles, but after Bessonov, West and Kuhn claimed wins at position No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, the score was tied at 3-3 with one match remaining.
Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Anton Stryhas, facing off at the No. 1 singles spot, were the last match to finish. Nedovyesov sealed the win for the Cowboys with a win in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
The Cowboys return to action on Feb. 21, when they face Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
