Michele Smith Inducted into OSU Alumni Hall of Fame

Stillwater, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association has announced the induction of four alumni into the 2011 OSU Alumni Hall of Fame, including former Cowgirl softball pitcher Michele Smith.
Induction into the OSU Alumni Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the OSU Alumni Association. It recognizes alumni and former students with outstanding lifetime achievements in society and professional life.
The inductees will be recognized at a ceremony on February 18, 2011, at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater, Okla.
Smith received her bachelor's degree in health and wellness from the College of Arts and Sciences in 1990. Smith is the owner of Michele Smith Fastpitch, Inc, in St. Petersburg, Fla., and does marketing for Musco Lighting.
During her time at OSU, Smith was a pitcher for the Cowgirl softball team. She set eight OSU records, including career victories, career games started and career appearances. Smith was a three-time All-Big Eight selection, two-time All-Big Eight Academic selection and a two-time All-American in 1988 and 1989.
Her career continued after OSU in the realm of professional softball and in two Olympics in which she brought home the gold. In 2010, she was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. She is a member of the OSU Alumni Association. Smith resides in St. Petersburg, Fla.
