Cowgirls Set For Showdown With Duke
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (8-0) will take on its first ranked opponent of the 2010-11 season when No. 5/4 Duke (10-0) comes to town for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday. The Cowgirls are coming off a 50-42 home win over Wisconsin last Sunday in the first edition of the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge. The contest will be televised by Cowboy Sports Network. The Cowgirls and Blue Devils have met on two previous occasions with Duke holding a 2-0 advantage. The Blue Devils won the first meeting, 76-64, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 1995 before claiming a 77-68 win two years ago in Durham in the season opener on Nov. 14.
Scouting Duke
Duke comes to town after having won a pair of home games last week. The Blue Devils knocked off Texas A&M on Monday, 61-58, before taking care of Albany, 83-48, on Thursday night. Duke has already played five road games this season, winning at Auburn, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, James Madison and Wisconsin. Jasmine Thomas is the lone Blue Devil scoring in double figures at 14.9 points per contest. Krystal Thomas is the squad's leading rebounder at 8.3 boards per game. The Blue Devils do have an Oklahoma native in Richa Jackson, a Midwest City product, who has played in all 10 games and is averaging 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per outing.

The Cowgirls have won 48-straight games inside Gallagher-Iba Arena against non-conference foes ... OSU will look to start the season 9-0, which would be its best start under head coach Kurt Budke .... OSU started the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons 8-0 ... Duke will be OSU's first ranked opponent of the season ... the Blue Devils' No. 5 ranking makes them the first top-10 opponent OSU has faced at home since defeating No. 9 Arkansas on Jan. 2, 2003 ... Duke is the highest ranked non-conference opponent to come to Stillwater since No. 1 Louisiana Tech came to Gallagher-Iba Arena on Nov. 25, 1989.
