Game Information
Oklahoma State concludes its three-game homestretch this weekend by hosting the Nicholls Colonels. Game time on Sunday is set for 3 pm inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. This will be the first meeting between these two teams on the hardwood.
About Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is 2-0 this season following Wednesday's 68-58 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Senior forward Marshall Moses is leading the team with his 17 points per game. Three other Cowboys are averaging double figures: sophomore guard Ray Penn (11 ppg), junior guard Keiton Page (10.5 ppg) and sophomore forward Jéan-Paul Olukemi (10.5 ppg). Junior forward Darrell Williams leads the squad with 21 rebounds in two games, or 10.5 rpg.
With the win over TAMUCC, OSU has now won 26-consecutive non-conference home games, dating back to a 104-48 win over Prairie View A&M on Nov. 9, 2007. It ranks as the fourth-longest streak of its kind in school history. Two more home victories against non-league foes will tie for the third-longest string in Cowboy Basketball history. The victory over Houston Baptist in the season opener was OSU's 700th all-time victory inside historic Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Oklahoma State is just one victory away from becoming the 34th team in NCAA history to reach 1,500 victories. OSU is 1,499-1,041 all-time on the hardwood, good for a 59 winning percentage.
About Nicholls
Nicholls is 1-1 this season with a 63-62 loss in overtime at Houston and a 62-53 victory over LSU in Baton Rouge in its last outing. Senior Anatoly Bose scored 28 points against the Bayou Bengals and the Colonels committed just eight turnovers. Bose is averaging 25 points per game while guard Fred Hunter is averaging 23 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Nicholls has forced an average of 22 turnovers per game.
All-Time Victories
Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team is just one victory shy of the 1,500-wins plateau, a mark that only 33 NCAA Division I schools have reached. Both Alabama and Georgetown joined that elite group already this season, and OSU ranks 34th all-time with 1,499 victories. Only Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma from the Big 12 Conference can claim that feat.
Home Non-League Streak
Oklahoma State has won 26 straight home non-conference games inside Gallagher-Iba Arena, the fourth-longest streak in school history. The current streak dates back to Nov. 9, 2007, when the Cowboys defeated Prairie View A&M to open the season. OSU has won 37 of its last 38 non-conference home games, the lone loss a postseason setback to Marist in the National Invitation Tournament. In fact, Oklahoma State is 163-3 in its last 166 non-league games at home since 1987, good for 98.2 percent.
OSU vs the Southland
This will be Oklahoma State's first-ever meeting with Nicholls on the hardwood. However, the Cowboys are quite familiar with several other members of the Southland Conference. In fact, OSU has already defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the last outing, and still has Central Arkansas and UTSA on the schedule this season. Oklahoma State is 47-5 (90.4 percent) all-time against current members of the Southland Conference.
Up Next
Oklahoma State will leave Tuesday afternoon and travel to Anaheim, Calif., to participate in the 76 Classic. The Cowboys will face the DePaul Blue Demons on Thanksgiving Day at 3:30 pm CT and the game will be televised on ESPN2. OSU will play either Virginia Tech or Cal State Northridge on Friday at either 1:30 or 4 pm CT, and that game will be televised on one of the ESPN family of networks. After a one-day break on Saturday, the tournament will conclude on Sunday against UNLV, Murray State, Stanford or Tulsa.
