STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed four players to National Letters of Intent it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke.
Forwards Elizabeth Donohoe and Brittney Hardy as well as center LaShawn Jones and guard Taylor Schippers all signed with the Cowgirls and will join the squad for the 2011-12 campaign.
"This is the best class we have signed since we have been at OSU," Budke said. "Three out of the four didn't play a lot of summer ball, so it might not be ranked that high, but I think it is the best group we have brought in."
Elizabeth Donohoe was a Super Five pick by The Oklahoman after leading Class 6A in scoring at 20.1 points per game. A first-team all-state pick by both The Oklahoman and Tulsa World, Donohoe also averaged 10.3 rebounds per game while guiding Edmond North to state tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. A first-team all-conference pick, she was also tabbed as the league's MVP last season.
"Liz is an inside-outside threat. She shoots the three extremely well and can play a couple of different positions for us," Budke said.
A product of Frisco (Texas) High School, Hardy averaged 15.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while helping the Raccoons to a 30-6 mark a year ago. Hardy is currently ranked as the 46th-best prospect by the All-Star Girls Report, is No. 63 on the ESPNU HoopGurlz 100 list and is ranked No. 72 by Blue Star Basketball. Hardy was a Class 4A all-region pick as well.
"Brittney is a tremendous athlete and one of the better rebounders we saw. She always gets her numbers. She has a Big 12 body and can contribute immediately," Budke said.
An honorable mention Big All-City pick, Jones also earned honorable mention all-state honors from The Oklahoman and Tulsa World after averaging 14.0 points per game for Putnam City High School. She was tabbed as a first-team all-conference pick as well as the league's defensive player of the year.
"LaShawn has a very strong, powerful body. She will definitely help us inside and can average 10 rebounds a game in the near future for us," Budke said.
Schippers helped Concordia Lutheran (Texas) High School to a 31-7 mark as a junior. The 5-8 guard averaged 20.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.3 steals per contest. A three-time all-state selection, Schippers connected on 55 percent of her shots from the floor, including 45 percent of her 3-point attempts.
"Taylor has the same range with her shot as Lakyn (Garrison) and I hope she can help fill those minutes left when Lakyn graduates," Budke said.
