FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team concluded its competition at the 2010 USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships Sunday, as Cowgirl Sarah Meghoufel fell to Tulsa's No. 47-ranked Alexandra Kichoutkin in the quarterfinal round of the main draw singles bracket.
Meghoufel, a senior from Oran, Algeria, had to advance through the qualifying stages to even reach the main draw, where she won three straight matches to reach the quarterfinal round.
The only remaining Cowgirl in the main draw narrowly lost her first set, but wasn't able to mount a comeback as she fell, 7-5, 6-0, to the nationally-ranked Kichoutkin.
Allison Burkhartt and Leyla Simmons also competed in today's consolation singles bracket, where both lost in tiebreakers.
OSU's wraps up its competition at the event with an overall record of 21-14.
The Cowgirls are scheduled to return to action Nov. 12 for the Lakewood Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
