Meghoufel Advances at ITA Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team completed its third day of competition the 2010 USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships Saturday, as Cowgirl senior Sarah Meghoufel advanced to the quarterfinal round of the main draw singles bracket with a three-set win over St. Louis' Stephanie Hollis.
The Oran, Algeria, native, playing in her only singles match of the day, dropped her first set to Hollis, but came back to earn a win, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, and a spot in Sunday's quarterfinal round.
Three other Cowgirls reached today's round of 16 after advancing through the opening two rounds, but Sasha Belova, Nataliya Shatkovskaya and Kanyapat Narattana dropped their matches against tough competition.
Meghoufel also recorded a win in the main draw doubles bracket Saturday with partner Belova, but the duo fell in the quarterfinal later in the day, 8-2.
OSU's overall record at the event moves to 21-11 after going 2-6 in Saturday's play.
Meghoufel continues her singles run at the 2010 USTA/ITA Regional Championships Sunday, with singles play scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
