Cowgirls Continue Strong Play ITA Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Oklahoma State women's tennis team pushed its overall record at the 2010 USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships to 19-5 Friday, as three Cowgirl doubles teams and four singles athletes advanced through the first two rounds of the main draw.
In doubles play, Nataliya Shatkovskaya and Kanyapat Narattana, as well as Sarah Meghoufel and Sasha Belova, teamed to take down their second round opponents after first round byes, while Malika Rose and C.C. Sardinha rolled to a 2-0 day, winning 8-2 in the first round and 8-5 in the second.
The Cowgirls carried their momentum into singles play, as five of seven OSU athletes defeated their competition in the opening round.
In the second round of singles play, with some Cowgirls playing in their third or fourth match of the day, four of the five remaining OSU athletes came up with big wins, including Belova, Meghoufel, Shatkovskaya and Narattana, to advance to Saturday's round of 16.
Oklahoma State continues play at the 2010 USTA/ITA Regional Championships Saturday, as four Cowgirls remain in singles competition and six remain in doubles.
