HAMPTON, Va. - The fourth-ranked Oklahoma State wrestling team dominated Clarion, claiming a 42-6 victory over the Golden Eagles in second-round action at the Virginia Duals Friday. The Pokes registered bonus points in six of their nine wins, including falls by 165-pounder Alex Meade, 197-pounder Alan Gelogaev and heavyweight Jared Rosholt.
With the win, Oklahoma State (6-0-1 overall) advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament, where it will square off against No. 14 Penn State at 1 p.m. Central time tomorrow.
The only bout of the dual against Clarion that featured two ranked opponents came at 157 pounds, where 12th-ranked Neil Erisman used a second-period escape and takedown to fuel his 4-2 win over No. 16 Hadley Harrison. The two wrestlers went scoreless in the first period and after Erisman did his damage in the second, the two started the third on their feet. Harrison bagged a takedown to cut Erisman's lead to 3-2 and cut him loose to trail, 4-2. Erisman held off Harrison for the rest of the way to claim his win.
Earlier in the day, OSU beat Liberty by a 36-6 score.
Stars for the day included Meade and Rosholt, both of whom registered first-period pins in both of their respective bouts on Friday. Gelogaev added a technical fall and a pin in his two victories and 174-pounder Mike Benefiel won his two bouts by major decision and technical fall, respectively.

125 pounds: Chris Notte got things going with a 5-1 win over Joe Waltko. Notte had to work hard to get the first takedown of the bout as Waltko attempted to Granby roll his way out of trouble twice, but Notte rolled with him both times to secure the takedown. Up by a 2-0 score after one, Notte started the second in the down position and immediately scored a reversal to take a 4-0 lead. He then put a punishing ride on Waltko to dominate much of the remainder of the period before giving up the escape. The two wrestlers started the third period in the neutral position with neither able to muster any scoring. Notte's 2:17 of riding time brought the final score to 5-1.
133 pounds: Jordan Oliver scored three first-period takedowns to set the tone for his dominating 11-3 major decision win over Jay Ivanco. Oliver punished Ivanco on top throughout the bout and the score probably was closer than the match actually felt. The Cowboy freshman controlled the action and the only points Ivanco scored came on escapes.
141 pounds: It didn't take Jamal Parks long to take control of his bout against Greg Lewis, as he scored a takedown off the opening whistle and added two more takedowns in the first period on the way to his 10-5 win. Parks took Lewis down four times in the bout and only allowed Lewis to score on escapes. When his 1:24 riding time was added, Parks was a 10-5 winner.
149 pounds: Quinten Fuentes kept the trend of early takedowns going when he dropped James Fleming early in the bout, but it was Fleming who ultimately left with the victory. From an unorthodox position, Fleming tied up Fuentes and eventually turned his maneuver into a cradle and got Fuentes on his back and pinned him at the 4:06 mark.
157 pounds: The premier bout of the dual came at 157 pounds, where 12th-ranked Neil Erisman used a second-period escape and takedown to fuel his 4-2 win over No.
165 pounds: Alex Meade needed only 53 seconds to pin Nick Milano in the 165-pound bout. Meade shot in for a quick takedown, then stuck the half in and turned Milano on his back for the fall. It was Meade's second first-period fall of the day, as the Cowboy freshman pinned Liberty's Chad Porter in 1:10 in the Pokes' first-round win over the Flames.
174 pounds: Mike Benefiel continued his romp through the competition this year with a 16-0 technical fall win over Steve Cressley. The bout was stopped just 16 seconds into the third period. Benefiel racked up three takedowns, a two-point nearfall a pair of three-point nearfalls an escape and a riding time point to claim his overwhelming win.
184 pounds: Chris McNeil won by forfeit.
197 pounds: Alan Gelogaev pinned Alex Thomas at the 2:24 mark of their bout. The Cowboy sophomore registered three takedowns and a two-point nearfall before running a half-nelson in on Thomas to finish the pin.
285 pounds: Jared Rosholt put a booming finish on the Cowboys' dominating dual win by pinning Quintas McCorkle at the 2:26 mark of their bout. Rosholt took McCorkle down early, then turned him for a three-point nearfall. He then ran the half in to set up his pin. Rosholt's win over McCorkle marked his second first-period pin of the day, as he stuck Liberty's Andrew Wilson in 1:56 as part of the Cowboys' 36-6 win over the Flames.
