OSU To Host No. 5 Baylor In Big 12 Opener
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (12-2) will begin Big 12 play against Baylor (13-1) on Saturday afternoon in a clash of Top 25 squads. The 23rd-ranked Cowgirls and the No. 5 Lady Bears will square off at 2:30 p.m. The contest will be televised by the Cowboy Sports Network with Chad McKee (PxP) and Anne O'Neil (color) handling the call.
Cowgirls and Baylor ... The Series
Baylor leads by a 22-9 count after taking all three meetings a year ago, including a 64-62 overtime win in Stillwater. The Lady Bears also claimed a 67-62 win in Oklahoma City during the second round of the Big 12 Championship. OSU's last wins in the series came in 2008 when the Cowgirls swept the both games to end a nine-game losing streak to Baylor. OSU is 7-6 all-time in Stillwater against BU.
Scouting The Lady Bears
The Lady Bears have reeled off 13-straight wins after opening the season with a 74-65 loss at Tennessee on Nov. 15. The Lady Bears are led by freshman Brittney Griner, who earlier this year became just the seventh female to dunk in a game. She added two more dunks in the squad's last outing, a 99-18 win over Texas State on Jan. 2. Griner currently leads the squad in scoring at 19.6 points and rebounding at 9.0 per contest. Baylor enters Big 12 play as the preseason favorite in the coaches poll and will be OSU's fourth Top 25 foe thus far.
