Cowgirls Move On at WSU Fall Classic

WICHITA, Kan. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team finished a busy day Saturday at the WSU Fall Classic, highlighted by several athletes winning their matches to advance to the final day of competition.
“It was a good day for us again,” coach Chris Young said. “The girls competed hard. Sasha (Belova) lost a tough three-set battle against last year's Big 12 Player of the Year, but Sasha and Nataliya (Shatkovskaya) moved on in doubles and Nataliya is also in the singles final.”
Belova and Shatkovskaya won their doubles match over Oklahoma's Katelyn Connelly and Ana-Maria Constantinescu, 8-6, They will face Annemijn Koenen and Claudine Paulson of Arkansas in the Maindraw Finals match Sunday.
Alisa Buslaieva and Iryna Khatsko also played a doubles match, falling to Oklahoma's Brittany Parks and Teona Tsertvadze, 8-6.
The Cowgirls had another successful day in singles play, winning six of the 11 matches they competed in.
Shatkovskaya highlighted the day with a three-set win over Wichita State's Florentina Hanisch, followed by a win over Wichita State's Stephanie Dalmacio in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the Maindraw Flight A Singles Finals on Sunday.
Oklahoma State wraps up its competition at the WSU Fall Classic Sunday, with play beginning at 9 a.m.
