STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming season. The Cowgirls will navigate a slate that will see them play a minimum of 16 home games.
"This is by far our toughest schedule to date," Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke. "It will be a challenge for us with so many new players on our roster, but it will be an exciting schedule that will benefit us in the long run."
The Cowgirls' season will get underway with their lone exhibition contest on Nov. 10 when they take on Washburn in Stillwater.
Two consecutive tournaments await the Cowgirls as they start the regular season by hosting Arkansas-Little Rock on Nov. 13 in the first round of the Preseason WNIT. The event, which features a three-game guarantee format and could result in additional home games for the Cowgirls, consists of a 16-team field and will conclude with the championship game on Nov. 22.
A trip to Grand Bahama Island for a pair of contests in the Junkanoo Jam also dots the non-conference slate for Budke's squad. OSU will open play against Marist on Nov. 27 before taking on either Michigan State or George Washington the following day.
A home date with Coppin State on Dec. 6 precedes a road contest at Vermont a week later for the Cowgirls. OSU will then close out its non-conference slate with six-straight home games as UC Riverside, Mercer, Oral Roberts, Western Illinois, Texas-Pan American and Sam Houston State will all visit Gallagher-Iba Arena.
A Jan. 9 home contest against Baylor will kick off the Big 12 schedule for the Cowgirls. OSU's first conference road game will come on Jan. 13 at Kansas before the Cowgirls return home to face Kansas State on Jan. 16.
Four of the next five outings for OSU will come on the road as games at Texas, Colorado, Texas A&M and Nebraska will be sandwiched around a Jan. 26 tilt against Missouri in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls will host Round One of the Bedlam Series when in-state rival Oklahoma comes to town on Feb. 6 to open a three-game homestand. Texas Tech and Texas A&M will also play in Stillwater before OSU's Feb. 20 road trip to Baylor.
A midweek home contest against Texas will be followed by a road game at Texas Tech before the Cowgirls close out their home slate against Iowa State on March 3.
OSU will wrap up the regular season on March 7 when it heads down I-35 to face Oklahoma in Norman.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 17-16 record last season and a berth in the WNIT, which marked their third consecutive postseason appearance under Budke.
