STILLWATER, Okla. - Bruce Erickson, who served as director of player development for the Oklahoma State women's basketball team, has been named the associate head coach for the women's program at Missouri-Kansas City it was announced this week.
Erickson joined the Cowgirl program three years ago as its director of operations before taking on the player development role the past two seasons. OSU reached the postseason in each of his three seasons on staff, competing in the NCAA Tournament his first two seasons and the WNIT last year.
Prior to Erickson's arrival in Stillwater, he coached at the high school level in Kansas for 24 years, compiling a 318-192 mark.
"We are extremely excited for Bruce and his family," Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke said. "This is the right move for him with his two daughters being in Kansas City."
Erickson's oldest daughter, Lori, competed for the UMKC women's basketball team during the 2000-01 campaign and earned her degree in nursing from the university. His youngest daughter, Cherise, played for the Kangaroos' golf team from 2006-2008 and is currently pursuing a pharmacy degree from the school.
"He is like a brother to me and we have enjoyed having him on our staff. He will be missed and wish him all the luck in his new role," Budke added.
A search for Erickson's replacement will begin immediately.
