Team USA Wins Bronze at World University Games

Belgrade, Serbia — Team USA received double-figure scoring from four different players and 11 Americans scored at least five points as the United States defeated Israel 91-80 here Saturday in the bronze-medal match of the World University Games. Team USA finished with a 6-1 record.
Lazar Hayward scored a team-high 14 points and tied Jarvis Varnado for team rebounding honors with nine. Da'Sean Butler scored 13 points for the U.S., while Talor Battle added 12 and Evan Turner chipped in 10.
Oklahoma State junior James Anderson scored five points for Team USA and also recorded one rebound and a steal in nine minutes of play against Israel. For the tournament, Anderson averaged 7.1 points per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the field. He led the team in scoring-per-40-minutes.
Host team Serbia defeated Russia in the gold-medal game, 73-51.
