Cowgirl Golf In Third At Ping/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz.—Oklahoma State's women's golf team moved into sole possession of third place on Saturday during the second round at the Ping/ASU Invitational at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course.
OSU carded a 295 during its second round and has a 36-hole total of 592, 16-over par. The host Sun Devils overtook Purdue in the team race after carding a 291 for a 585 total. Purdue holds second place at 590.
Individually, Southern California's Lizette Salas fired a 66 to get to 139 and hold a two-stroke advantage over the field.
After opening with a 72 on Friday, freshman Caroline Hedwall carded a 75 to dip from a tie for third into a tie for eighth with a 3-over 147 total.
Fellow freshman Caroline Masson followed up her opening 75 with a 73 to stand in a tie for 13th place at 148. Coming in a stroke back was senior Pernilla Lindberg, who carded a 77 and is alone in 16th place at 149.
Senior Amanda Johnson turned in the squad's best round with an even-par 72 to move from a tie for 56th place into a tie for 17th at 150.
Senior Karin Kinnerud also bounced back in Round Two, rebounding from an 81 during her first round with a 75 to move up 27 spots into a tie for 54th at 156.
The Cowgirls will return to action at the par-72, 6,230-yard layout tomorrow at 8:50 a.m. (PST) and will be paired with Arizona State and Purdue.
