Cowboy Tennis Drops Big 12 Tournament Match to Baylor

The 21st-ranked Cowboys fell to 14-7, 3-3 in Big 12 play and will await to see their fate for an at-large bid in the NCAA Championships that begin May 8. Baylor improved to 22-6, 6-0 and will face
The seventh-ranked Bears struck first, scoring two quick wins in doubles competition. Denes Lukacs and Maros Horny opened with an 8-2 win over OSU's Mikhail Trukshanin and Igor Sobolta.
Dominik Mueller and Julien Bley followed with an 8-3 defeat of Anton Bobytskyi and Oleksandr Nikitienko to give Baylor a 1-0 lead.
Baylor ran its lead to 3-0 with straight-set wins at Nos. 3 and 6 singles.
Mueller's 6-1, 6-3 win over OSU's Aleksey Bessonov at the No. 3 slot pushed the Bear lead to 2. Horny followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sobolta at No. 6 singles.
Second-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov put the Cowboys on the board with a straight-set win over fourth-ranked Lukacs. The Alushta, Ukraine native's 6-3, 6-4 triumph revenged his only loss in Big 12 play that came at the hands of Lukacs on April 19.
The Bears clinched the match with Jordan Rux's 6-4, 7-6 (7) decision over Cowboy senior Nathan Byrnes.
The Cowboys, which Baylor beat 7-0 on April 19, forced third sets at the Nos. 4 and 5 singles matches that were not completed. OSU had lost the first set in each of those matches.
