April 14, 2009 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER, Okla. Â The Oklahoma State men's tennis team returned the top 25 in the latest Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, coming in at No. 24.
The Cowboys (12-5, 2-2 in Big 12) are on a five-match winning streak, including three wins last week since the last rankings came out. OSU downed Nebraska on April 7, then No. 28 Tulsa on April 9 and its Bedlam rival Oklahoma on April 11.
OSU has not been in the top 25 since March 17, when it was ranked No. 25. The highest ranking this season for the Cowboys was in the Feb. 10 rankings when they were ranked No. 17.
The Cowboys are one of four Big 12 teams ranked in the top 25. Baylor leads the league at No. 5, Texas A&M is ranked No. 13 and Texas is one behind at No. 14.
Four of Oklahoma State's five losses have come to teams ranked in the top 18. OSU beat No. 23 Louisville on March 30.
The Campbell/ITA College Tennis rankings for singles and doubles were also released today with Cowboys ranked in singles and in doubles. The individual rankings are released biweekly, while the team rankings are released weekly.
Junior Oleksandr Nedovyesov is ranked No. 2 nationally in singles. He fell out of the top spot, after a loss to Arnau Brugues, who was ranked No. 2 at the time, of Tulsa on April 9. Brugues reclaimed the No. 1 spot with the win.
Nedovyesov and senior Nathan Byrnes are ranked No. 17 in doubles. The defending Big 12 champions at No. 1 doubles won against Nebraska, but dropped a close match against Oklahoma.
