Cowboy Tennis Set to Face Southern Methodist
April 01, 2009 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER, Okla. Â The Oklahoma State men's tennis team will return to action Friday against Southern Methodist in Dallas.
The Mustangs are ranked No. 75 in the latest Campbell/ITA Tennis rankings. Oklahoma State (8-5) fell to No. 30 after two losses over the weekend.
No. 61 Robin Fahgen leads SMU (13-8) in singles. He will likely face top-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov for Oklahoma State. The two have met once before with Nedovyesov picking up a 6-3, 6-3 win on March 5, 2008.
SMU boasts the No. 33 ranked doubles team in Adham el-Effendi and Darren Walsh. The two have played the majority of their matches at the No. 1 spot this spring. If that holds true, they will face the 16th-ranked duo of Nedovyesov and Nathan Byrnes.
The Cowboys and Mustangs have faced two of the same opponents this season. SMU lost to Texas Christian 4-3, who OSU downed 5-2. OSU and SMU each dropped 5-2 decisions to Texas.
OSU is coming off a 4-2 win over Louisville on Monday. The win over the Cardinals snapped a four-match losing streak for the Cowboys.
