Cowgirl Basketball Earns Third Consecutive Postseason Berth

STILLWATER, Okla.ÂFor the third consecutive season, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has earned a postseason berth. The Cowgirls garnered a spot in the WNIT it was announced today.
OSU (16-15) will host UT Arlington on Saturday in Stillwater with the winner advancing to face Arkansas on Monday in Fayetteville, Ark. Game time for this weekend's contest will be determined on Tuesday.
UTA is 22-10 after falling last Saturday in the championship game of the Southland Conference Tournament.
“We are excited to extend our season with the WNIT and feel we have a lot of good basketball left to play,” Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke said. “We are also glad for the opportunity to play against competition outside the Big 12 again.”
The WNIT appearance will be the third in school history for the Cowgirls, who are 3-2 all time in WNIT games. OSU first played in the event in 1998 and reached the second round. The Cowgirls' most recent appearance came in 2001, where they advanced to the quarterfinal round.
OSU was one of three Big 12 teams chosen for the 48-team field, joining Nebraska and Kansas.
