Bruce Erickson, Director of Player Development

Entering his third season with the Cowgirl program is coaching veteran Bruce Erickson.
After 24 years as a high school head coach in Kansas, Erickson made the move to the collegiate level in 2006-07 as the program's director of basketball operations. Last year, he assumed the program's newly created director of player development position.
Erickson compiled a 318-192 record during his coaching career that included three different stops. Twice he was selected as a head coach for the Kansas Basketball Showcase and was also tabbed on one occasion as an assistant for the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game.
Erickson spent 14 years at Salina South High School in Salina, Kansas, making three state tournament appearances and earning Saline County Coach of the Year honors three times. Under his direction, the Cougars posted one runner-up finish and a pair of third-place finishes at the state tournament, while capturing four conference championships in the process.
Erickson also worked as an assistant coach for Salina South's baseball and softball teams, helping each program to a state title.
Prior to his tenure at Salina South, Erickson spent four years at Ellis (Kan.) High School where he served as the head coach for the women's basketball program as well as an assistant coach for the football and track squads.
Erickson began his coaching career at Morland (Kan.) High School where he led both the women's basketball and football teams for six seasons. Under his watch, MHS won two regular-season crowns and one conference tournament title on the hardwood as well as one district championship on the gridiron.
In addition to his on-floor coaching duties, Erickson has extensive administrative experience, having worked numerous summer camps on various levels. He also directed the All-American Basketball Camp for 14 years as the USBL's Kansas Cagerz camp for two years.
Erickson graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in education after earning his associate of arts degree from Colby (Kan.) Community College.
He and his wife, Rhonda, have three children, Lori, Cherise and Robert.
