Fall 2008: Did not compete during the fall season of his sophomore year.

Freshman: Sobolta sat out a majority of early-season matches before becoming a permanent fixture at No. 6 singles, where he finished 6-8 during the regular season ... also went 1-1 at No. 5 singles ... he and teammate Anton Bobytskyi finished the regular season with a 3-7 mark at No. 3 doubles.

Personal: Son of Ivan and Galina Sobolta ... has one brother, Orest (25) ... majoring in management ... enjoys basketball and listening to hip-hop, alternative and punk music ... lists “Love Hurts” as his favorite movie.

Coach Wadley on Sobolta: “He did a good job for us as a freshman. He is the only left-handed player on our squad, so he is great to have in practice. He is really tough and has a big forehand and left-handed serve. I expect him to do great things this year.”
