Cowboys Lead Early, Squeak out 92-82 Victory
February 19, 2009 | Cowboy Basketball
It appeared all but over 13 minutes into the game as OSU took a 30-18 lead and was hitting practically everything from the floor. The Pokes extended the lead to 17 before taking a 47-32 lead into intermission.
It was as if Texas Tech had already checked it in midway through the second period as Oklahoma State went on a 19-9 run and led 66-41 on a pair of free throws by Harris. However, the Red Raiders would not go away that easily, and with just seven minutes running off the clock, Tech outscored the Cowboys 27-8 to cut the Pokes' lead to six at 74-68.
A total of 82 free throws were shot in the game, 43 by Texas Tech and 39 by Oklahoma State. OSU outrebounded the taller Red Raiders 38-30 and shot 51 percent from the floor. However, the most important stat of the game was from beyond the arc, where OSU was 12-of-25 (48 percent) and Tech was just 4-of-14 (28.6 percent), including two in the final minute and a half.
Oklahoma State (16-9 overall, 5-6 Big 12) will host the Baylor Bears (16-9, 4-7) on Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 12:45 p.m.
