All-Time vs the Atlantic 10
Oklahoma State is 48-29 (62.3 percent) all-time against the Atlantic 10, with most of those games against St. Louis when both teams were members of the Missouri Valley Conference. All of OSU's home games against the A-10 were against St. Louis. All other games were played either on the road or on neutral courts.
The Cowboys are 3-3 vs. the Atlantic 10 Conference in the postseason, including a win over Saint Joseph's in the 2004 NCAA Tournament which sent OSU to the Final Four. The Cowobys have also defeated George Washington and UMass in the NCAA Tournament. Two of the Cowboys' three losses to Temple have come in the postseason, as have both losses to Duquesne.
Oklahoma State is 1-0 against Rhode Island, and will play the Rams again in just 12 days at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The Cowboys have never played Richmond, St. Bonaventure or Xavier.
Oklahoma State 33, La Salle 16
In the only previous meeting between these two schools on Dec. 18, 1939, Oklahoma (A&M) State defeated the Explorers 33-16. It was the second of a five-game swing for the Aggies along the east coast. Lonny Eggleston scored a game-high nine points while Gene Smelser added eight. A&M held La Salle to just two field goals in the second half, and was never in danger. It was the Explorers' first loss of the season after winning their first six. Jesse 'Cab' Renick — a future All-American —and Herman 'Bud' Millikan — future head coach at Maryland — both played in the game for the Aggies.
OSU at the All-College
Oklahoma State is no stranger to the All-College, even before the reformatting of the tournament into a classic. OSU played in the All-College Tournament for 20 consecutive years from 1936-55, including the first season when it was called the Charity Cage Tournament. The Cowboys compiled a 55-12 record during that span, including 11 tournament titles.
Oklahoma State took a 25-year hiatus before returning to the tournament in 1980, once again winning the team championship in both '80 and 1982. OSU also went 1-1 in 1982, '85, '86 and '88.
The event was reformatted in 2001 and played as a classic with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma both playing foes in a doubleheader. The Cowboys are 6-2 in the eight All-College Classics, including an 86-82 victory over Rhode Island last season, another Atlantic 10 foe.
